Balance

Balance

Everything comes down to balance. Balance governs our world. Our lives operate on fine-tuned settings that we aren’t always aware of, yet they’re what hold everything together. This delicate equilibrium affects how we perceive things—whether aesthetically, emotionally, or energetically.

Design, too, follows this path, finding balance in proportions, materials, and the elements we bring together to create what I like to call harmony. It’s not the classical harmony of the Renaissance but a contemporary sense of beauty that we feel intuitively.

Our eye measures this subtle balance. Unlike in earlier times with strict rules, today, some things flatter while others jar, and over time, I’ve trained myself to sense that right balance. It doesn’t always work, but like everything, it’s a practice; one develops an eye for it. And by “eye,” I mean the ability to step back and evaluate one’s work—almost as though viewing it through someone else’s eyes, while still staying true to oneself.

This, I believe, is one of the most important aspects of any creative profession. It’s about achieving a unique aesthetic dialogue, almost as though becoming someone else while remaining yourself, to find a balance between the two perspectives.

In the same way I refine my designs, I work on my style, seeking points of alignment that feel authentic to me. Developing a style that reflects who I am has been essential to me for years. It reminds me (and yes, I do need this reminder) that I am, like everyone, a unique person—even if I tend to forget. Finding this personal style has helped me feel grounded and prepared to face the world.

I’d like to help you find this balance in your way of dressing and in your home. For a time, I’ll be a guide between you and yourself, helping you feel comfortable and confident around others, while staying true to who you are.
